An active control telescopic wind and solar hybrid system for better renewable energy harnessing

A solar wind hybrid telescopic system for harnessing both wind and solar energies at the same time was invented. The system consists of a solar chimney composed of six hollow masts with a telescopic mechanism. The telescopic mechanism allows the active control in the attitude of the wind turbine for better adapting its height towards the climate conditions change and the wind velocity. Three assembly mechanisms are suggested for industrial applications of the telescopic system which are a central single piston-based mechanism, a mechanism with multiple hydraulic cylinders as jacks and a set of rack and pinion-based system. At the top of the sixth mast, a wind turbine is fixed. The telescopic mechanism allows the regulation of the wind turbine height with respect to the climate conditions. Moreover, it permits easy maintenance of the wind turbine by lowering its height from high attitudes to the ground.
